GS Fax PRO [Listing updated: May 9, 2002]

GS Fax Pro is integrated into Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes or other email server. Users create messages to be faxed in the same way they send an e-mail message. The message including any attached files is routed through the e-mail system to the GS Fax Pro Server for transmission. The Fax Server converts the e-mail message into a fax image, prepares the appropriate cover page and delivers the fax. Users are automatically sent a delivery report, including: The delivery date and time, number dialed, number of pages transmitted and call duration.

"Unfortunately, one to avoid" - Leigh Melvin [September 13, 2004] Product Rating: 1/5
This product is very reasonably priced and in theory, should work with many different fax cards. This is where the good points end. I tried to install this software to work in a Notes 5 environment, and after much effort, support and many patches from GuideSoft managed to get it working in a UK environment. I then tried to reproduce the installation and the same configuration failed to work. In order to implement fax, we decided to find a more reliable solution.

While it worked, I was able to make the following observations: The GUI is pretty nasty. Simple things like being able to resize the screen are not available. It does not integrate well with Lotus Notes. There is notification of a sent fax, but no logging, etc.
If you want a cheap solution for a small site, it might do the job, but installation is not trivial.
